Our scientific interest is in the field of Developmental Biology.  My lab focuses on the fundamental problem of how the simple and uniform embryonic neural tube gives rise to an astonishing variety of cells and functions in the central nervous system (CNS). The three main topics that occupy us are: hindbrain development, neural crest migration, and harnessing this basic knowledge to monitoring environmental pollution. Our recent achievements in these topics are briefly summarized below. The lab used chick and mouse as model organisms and combines state of the art technologies, such as Crisper/Cas9 and Cre-Lox-based methodologies in vivo, neural stem cells isolation and manipulation ex vivo, mutant mice lines, RNA Omics and advanced microscopy together with classical developmental biology strategies.
