Prof. Uri Orgad
Director of the School of Veterinary Medicine from 1992 to 1996
Remarks in memory of the late Prof. Uri Orgad, by Prof. Merav Shamir - Director of the School of Veterinary Medicine
On behalf of the school's faculty and all its students, past and present:
Uri
I have no words to describe the enormity of the appreciation, gratitude and love I have felt for you and for you all these years.
Your greatness as a teacher, as an educator, as a colleague. Your love for the profession, your commitment to the school from the day it was founded until recently when you still intended to recover and come to teach.
Uri held the all-time record as an outstanding teacher in the eyes of students year after year in a row.
Even in recent years, when I would enter a meeting with the second-year students at the school, the comment was repeated: "Now the older lecturer with white hair, the pathologist, has begun to teach us, what a great teacher! Impressive! I wish that the lecturers would learn from him in this way." It's a comment that has been repeated year after year. And more than once I would call to tell you about it.
I am writing Uri to thank you for your great work. For teaching us that excellence and humility are not incompatible qualities, on the contrary.
Kindness and respect for all human beings, colleagues and students, are the only way to influence our professional lives, the next generation and our society in general.
I, and many of your successors, promise you to continue to try to pass on this spirit to future generations as much as we can.
May your memory be blessed
Merav Shamir
Director of the School of Veterinary Medicine
On behalf of the school staff and all your students, past and present.
